NAME OF PERIODICAL: Knihovna plus

HISTORY OF THE PERIODICAL: When founded (in 2005), “Knihovna plus” was a quarterly; two of the 4 annual issues appearing as the electronic form/analogy of the periodical “Knihovna-knihovnická revue” and two as a platform for the beginning authors. Since 2006 it is issued as a separate journal.

AT THE PRESENT DAY: Knihovna plus is a separate periodical appearing twice a year in electronic form. The editorial staff prepare the periodical in collaboration with the board of editors. The latter consists of Czech and foreign experts in the field of libraries and information science.

PROFILE OF THE PERIODICAL: Knihovna plus informs about successful projects of Czech and foreign libraries, about the active participation of the National Library of the Czech Republic in foreign and international projects. As a general journal for librarians it reports about conferences, seminars and further library oriented events and informs about novelties among the Czech and foreign publications in this field. Each issue contains also the section News from foreign library literature – annotated abstracts from foreign professional periodicals that are either subscribed by the Czech National Library, and namely by its detached Library of literature for Librarians, or derived from free sources that are available in electronic version on the Internet.

PREFERRED TOPICS: archiving, copyright, bibliography, digitalization, digital libraries, historical funds, informational ethics, information policy, informational technology, information sources, information science, cataloguing procedures, catalogues and c-databases, librarianship, libraries, library  and information service, legal issues, professional terminology or terminology in general, results of projects developed in the above fields.

Knihovna plus is registered within the Czech National Bibliography.

• Thanks to the concluded licence agreement with the EBSCO database the contents of the journal are currently excerpted into foreign databases ever since 2006.
• Contributions to the journal are excerpted into the professional database KKL (Knihovna knihovnické literatury) that is created by the Library of Literature for Librarians as part of the Library Institute NK ČR.
